Description:
"Wild Rose" blown molded circular underplate (for finger bowl) with irregular flared ruffled lip; color gradations from white at center to dark rose at rim; concave, polished pontil mark.
Gallery Label:
Wild Rose glass, patented by the New England Glass Works in 1886, is an opaque shaded glass produced by the addition of oxides to the bipartite glass mixture. Amberina, Burmese, and Peach Blow are related art glass formulas popular during the late 1880s and early 1890s.
