Description: 
Tea plate with molded edge decorated with blue enamel and gilding; border decoration consists of wide blue enamel band with gold stars bounded below by blue dots and faded gilded spearhead band below; central decoration consists of blue enamel gilded floral swags and a shield with blue border and gold stars, ribbons, and leafy swag; initials inscribed in shield.

This dish, part of a fifty-four-piece dinner service, was owned by New York statesman and merchant James Watson, Jr. (1750-1806) and his wife Mary Talcott (1752-1806).
