Description: 
Sword with straight, evenly tapered, triangular blade with etched designs on all three sides; gilded brass hilt with biloded counter-guard, C-shaped knuckle-bow with stylized floral motif molded at center, straight quillon with bulbous tip with molded ornament, grip with narrow ridges meant to resemble wire wrapping, and urn-shaped pommel with zigzag-patterned band and knob finial; leather scabbard with gilded brass mount at throat with frog stud in the form of a shield, and gilded brass tip with small symmetrical drag.

A note in the accession records identifies this sword as a "rapier of the light guard" worn by the donor, Henry Vincent Allien, between 1835 and 1840.
