Circular brass seal matrix with initials "GG" in black-letter script; turned wooden handle.

According to the accession records, this stamp is a "Civil War item" associated with Dr. Gabriel Grant (1826-1909), father of the donor. Dr. Grant, a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, was Surgeon of the 2nd New Jersey Volunteers and later Surgeon-in-Chief of Division.
