Description:
Private's brass shoulder scale with seven overlapping scalloped plates; oval end with raised crescent; brass strap fastener.
Gallery Label:
A handwritten inscription on the reverse of this object suggests that it was found near Seven Pines (Fair Oaks), Virginia, by A. C. Chenoweth in 1873. It was apparently collected as a relic of the Battle of Seven Pines, or Fair Oaks, which took place May 31 to June 1, 1862.
