Octagonal red wax wafer with circular seal impression; marine view at center with triangular emblem floating above and inscription "HONDURAS INTER-OCEANIC RAILWAY COMPANY LIMITED" in circular border.
Gallery Label:
This impression bears the official seal of the Honduras Inter-Oceanic Railway Company, which the archeologist and authority on Central America E. G. Squier had promoted in the mid-nineteenth century. A native of New York State, Squier lived in New York City at the time of his death, in 1888. The donor is his grand-nephew.
