An actor and comedian, Wynn began his career in vaudeville before joining the Ziegfeld Follies in the 1920s. He was a radio comedy and movie star in the 1930s and 40s. His Emmy Award-winning television variety show, "The Ed Wynn Show," first appeared in 1949 and ran through the 1950s.
