Ann Rainey was the niece of Grace Rainey Rogers, Manship's patron who commissioned the Paul J. Rainey Memorial Gateway at the Bronx Zoo and for whom the Metropolitan Museum's auditorium is named. This is one of several portrait medallions Manship created in 1927. Ann Rainey married Matthias Plum, Jr. in 1932.
