Description:
Rectangular silver presentation plaque with a rounded top, mounted on a rectangular wooden backing; repoussé chased image of a dirigible rising out a swaged pyre with billowing smoke scrolls and laurel branches, a winged woman flies at the front and images of hot air balloons and an airplane are chased in the dirigible ballon; chased above, "COUPE AERONAUTIQUE/ J. GORDON BENNETT" in roman letters; engraved below, "ALLAN R. HAWLEY/ AMERICA II, 17 OCTOBRE 1910/ 1884 Kirves en 44 heures 25" in roman letters and script; maker's marks stamped in the lower corners.
