Handwritten note in ink on the cloth backing of copy 2: " Ratzer 1767"
There are handwritten notes, verso, which are not borne out by the citation in Stokes: "Date depicted 1766-67. Advertised for sale N.Y. Newspapers 1769-70. Copy 2 probably 1st issue before published improvement of Jeffreys [sic] & Faden date Jun 12 1776. Stokes I p. 342. Note presentation inscription by John Pintard under dedication." Nevertheless, copies 1 and 2 seem identical.
The map is dedicated "To his excellency Sir Henry Moore, Bart. . .most Humbly Inscribed by His Excellency's most obedient Servant."
