A large white pinback campaign button divided horizontally into red, white and blue sections with photographs of Thomas Dewey and Earl Warren in the central white field, and above and below "Dewey/ Warren". Thomas Edmund Dewey (1902-1971) of Pawling, Dutchess County, N.Y.; Republican. U.S. District Attorney for the Southern District of New York, 1933; candidate for Republican nomination for President, 1940; Governor of New York, 1943-55; defeated, 1938; candidate for President of the United States, 1944, 1948. Earl Warren (1891-1974), member of Republican National Committee from California, 1936-38; California state attorney general, 1939-43; Governor of California, 1943-53; candidate for Vice President of the United States, 1948; and Chief Justice of U.S. Supreme Court, 1953-69.
