Description:
Brass and ebony octant ("a") with series of colored glass lenses (three circular, three square, one rectangular), one rectangular mirror, and inlaid ivory ruler with engraved markings; in pie-wedge shaped oak case ("b") with three-quarter length portrait of a woman (probably Jenny Lind) painted on stepped, hinged lid.
