Struck bronze medal commemorating sesqui-centennial of the New-York Historical Society; obverse with seal of N-YHS and legend "THE NEW-YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY / INSTITUTED 1804"; reverse with image of N-YHS building on Central Park West and legend "THE NEW-YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY / ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTIETH / ANNIVERSARY / 1804-1954"; in white cloth-bound cardboard case.

The New-York Historical Society issued this sesqui-centennial medal in 1954 for presentation to appropriate individuals and institutions and to be placed on sale "to the commonality" at $1.50 each. It was executed after the design of Ralph J. Menconi by the Medallic Art Co. in an edition of 800 copies.
