A dark gold colored metal medallion embossed on one side with a horse and carriage marked "Richmond, VA.", encircled by "Chew Shell [?]ad Tobacco/ R.A. Patterson Tobacco Company", and on the reverse, a laurel wreath around "First Award Of Merit/ The International Cotton Exposition/ Atlanta, GA., 1881".
