Description:
Circular medal suspended from scarlet and gold striped ribbon with attached pin; obverse of medal has raised figure of marine in full pack with fixed bayonet; "EXPEDITIONS" inscribed above in a semi-circle; the reverse has raised eagle perched on an anchor; with "UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS" inscribed in a semi-circle above; "FOR" is to the eagle's left and "SERVICE" to the eagle's right.
