Description:
Gold locket containing 2 clear glass compartments each with a tintype photograph; engine-turned decoration on exterior; round gold pendant bail.
Gallery Label:
According to the accession notes, the tintypes inside the locket are of William de Groot (1825-1898), and his first wife Isabella Graham Britton of Elizabeth, New Jersey. William was a member of the firm De Groot and Peck, and president of the Hudson River Bank. At one time he was a shipowner engaged in the China trade.
