Description:
Bronze struck medal with obverse showing full-length portrait of William Washington on horseback, leading his troops in battle, with winged figure of Victory overhead holding a laurel wreath; legend: "GUILELMO WASHINGTON LEGIONIS EQUIT. PREAFECTO" and inscription in ex.: "COMITIA AMERICAN." Reverse bears inscription surrounded by laurel wreath: "QUOD/PARVA MILITUM MANU/STRENUE PROSECUTUS HOSTES/VIRTUTIS INGENITAE/PRAECLARUM SPECIMEN DEDIT/IN PUGNA AD COWPENS/XVII.JAN.MDCCLXXXI."
