Description: 
Steel lockplate from percussion musket; with hammer.
Gallery Label: 
This lockplate was found by Dr. John Osgood Stone after the Battle of Williamsburg, Virginia in 1862. It was part of a Springfield Model 1842 musket that was used by a soldier during the battle.
