Description:
Iron grapeshot.
Gallery Label:
This grapeshot was cut out of a window casing of the Colonial Kip house, on 35th Street east of Second Avenue in Manhattan. The shot was probably fired on September 14, 1776 by a British frigate during a cannonade that preceded a landing of British troops on the island the next day.
