Bronze struck medal with obverse showing clothed bust of Washington facing right: "G.WASHINGTON/PRES. UNIT. STA." Reverse depicts pedestal draped in American flag with crossed sword and fasces bound by laurel wreath: "COMMISS. RESIGNED: PRESIDENCY RELINQ."; date in exergue: "1797."
