Epaulet with tapered red wool strap edged with gold metallic cloth tape, and gold fringe that extends below gold tape ornamentally configured as an interlaced figure 8.

According to the accession records, this epaulet was presented to Captain Samuel Craig (1777-1871) of the Pennsylvania Regiment, Company F (1st Company) by General Lafayette for distinguished service in the Battle of Brandywine, September 11, 1777. Craig was recruited from Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
