Carved wooden eagle with turned head open beak and spread wings; painted yellow, with red on eyes and tongue; standing on dome mounted on circular base.
Gallery Label:
This carved wooden eagle was used as part of the ornament over a doorway of the Eagle Hotel, Bronx, New York. The hotel was situated at what is now known as McKinley Square.
