Description: 
Steel, ivory and brass dagger. Leather and brass scabbard; tapered, oval black leather scabbard has brass covers at throat and tip with openwork floral designs on front, and two brass rings fastened to left side of top cover.

According to accession records, this scabbard held a dagger that was used by the donor's father, Emilio Buch, while serving in the 2nd Battalion, Cazadores Voluntarios de Matanzas, as part of Spanish forces during the Cuban insurrection of 1867.
