Gallery Label:
Miss Clinton was the second daughter of Governor George Clinton of New York and Cornelia (Tappan) Clinton. In 1794 she was married to Edmond Charles Genet, a young diplomat who was appointed the first minister of the French republic to the United States in 1793.
