After over thirty years of construction, New York City’s long-awaited Second Avenue Subway line finally opened on January 1, 2017. On December 31, 2016, just prior to the public opening, the line was celebrated at an invitation-only New Years’ Eve gathering and inaugural ride sponsored by fourteen New York City cultural institutions. The New-York Historical Society numbered among the event’s sponsor. Among those in attendance was the Historical Society’s President and CEO, Dr. Louise Mirrer, who received these souvenirs that evening.
