Gilt bronze struck medal with uniformed bust of James Lawrence facing right with legend: "JAC.LAWRENCE DULCE ET DECORUM EST PRO PATRIA MORI." Reverse shows a naval battle scene with legend: "MANSUETUD MAJ QUAM VICTORIA" and inscription below exergual line: "INTER HORNET NAV AMERI/ET PEACOCK NAV ANG/DIE XXIV FEB/MDCCCXIII."
