Cast and seamed Sheffield plate candlestick; tapered rectangular shaft supporting an applied, flared rectangular socket; shaft applied to a rectangular, molded foot; filled with plaster; no maker's marks.

This candlestick belonged to General John Watts de Peyster, the grandfather of the donor.
