Jimmy Carter campaign cane.
Gallery Label:
For the bicentennial presidential campaign, the Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter campaigns mass produced nostalgic tin campaign canes that mimicked FDR's 1932 pewter cane. They had the candidate's name on one side and "For President" on the other. Jimmy Carter had been a peanut farmer and the Governor of Georgia before his surprising ascendency to the presidency.
