Silver struck medal with obverse showing clothed bust of Benjamin Franklin facing left with surrounding legend: "BENJ. FRANKLIN NATUS BOSTON. XVII JAN./MDCCVI." Reverse contains inscription at center, surrounded by wreath of oak: "ERIPUIT COELO/FULMEN/SCEPTRUM QUE/TYRANNIS"; inscription in exergue: "SCULPSIT ET DICAVIT/AUG. DUPRE ANNO/MDCCLXXXVI."
