Description:
Male. Havell plate no. 46 includes an Eastern Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) inserted at lower right on branch.
Gallery Label:
The squirrel was added by the engraver. The original drawing of the squirrel is owned by Mrs. Ernest Tyler, NYC. (see figure 19, The Birds of America)
