The subject, daughter of J. Pierpont and Frances Louisa (Tracy) Morgan, was born in New York. She was the author of "The American Girl: Her Education, Her Responsibility, Her Recreation, Her Future" (1915) in which she put forth her ideas on the rights and privileges due the "modern" female in America. A bronze version of this portrait is owned by the American Women's Association, of which Morgan served as president from 1928 to 1943.
