Description:

Gallery Label:
This watercolor is one of Harvey's different epochs of the day, ca. 1830s-40s. This scene probably represents one or two docks located on the Hudson River on the artist's property at Hastings-on-Hudson in Westchester County, New York. A clue to the drawings original date may be found in a study by Harvey of somewhat similar subjects with the distant Palisades of the Hudson as a motif (oil on panel, 12 x 19 inches) in the Karolik Collection, Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
