Education Mission
The New-York Historical Society Education Division provides dynamic programming and curriculum resources for students and teachers in New York and beyond. Historical study sparks curiosity and creativity, promotes cultural understanding, and fosters an empowered citizenry to strengthen our democracy. Our staff of passionate professionals draws on our world-renowned collections to engage learners of all ages in the study of our collective past.

Explore the life, career, and impact of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the exhibition Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This tour focuses on Ginsburg’s contributions to the expansion of civil rights and on the role models who preceded and inspired her.
Virtual Outreach Series
Discover our bounty of live, remote lessons on topics ranging from colonial America to the Civil War and Reconstruction to World War II and the civil rights movement. In each one hour online lesson, a New-York Historical educator conducts a lively and interactive conversation with students as they examine artifacts, paintings, documents, and virtual exhibitions.
Students are invited to work collaboratively to find answers to history’s big questions, and in the process, develop their critical thinking skills and expand their understanding of our collective past.
